- Description
- Tetsplit is a program for tetrahedral finite element (FE) mesh generation from medical images. It runs directly on segmented medical images without the need for surface extraction. TetSplit has a number of attractive features including good mesh elements quality and user control of local mesh denisty. TetSplit was designed to create FE meshes from segmented brain images and to use these meshes for biomechanical simulation of brain tumor mass-effect (see A. Mohamed and C. Davatzikos, MICCAI 2005). To run such mass-effect simulations, TetSplit interfaces with ABAQUSTM (ABAQUS, Inc) FE simulation package. TetSplit comes with a number of supporting utilities to facilitate the interface with ABAQUSTM. TetSplit has also proved successful in the generation of tetrahedral meshes from segmented 3D medical images of several organs other than the brain.
